Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this CE Smith galvanized steel, double U-bolt bolster bracket. Bolster brackets are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. And when used with a swivel bracket, they allow a mounted bunk board, which is run from the front of the trailer to the back to pivot while you are loading a boat. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.
This rust resistant bolster bracket attaches to your boat trailer's frame with two U-bolts to ensure an extra sturdy connection to your trailer frame to support your bunk board. Now, two brackets are required per bunk board. And with this, you will only get one bracket. And the mounting slots permit as much as three inches of height adjustment during the installation. And this is made in the USA of seven-gauge galvanized steel that's going to resist rust and corrosion.
By the way, galvanized steel parts are hot dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically three millimeters to five millimeters thick. And this thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding, so this is gonna be suitable for salt water exposure. As I already mentioned, you are gonna get one bracket. And the overall height of this bracket, we are sitting right at 8 3/4 inches tall.
And the overall width, we are looking right at, looks like four inches wide. And then let me measure these mounting slots for you. Looking at the overall length here of the mounting slot, we are sitting right at three inches long. And that's, of course, going to be the same for each of those mounting slots. And looking at the width, looks like we're at half an inch wide.
And then the horizontal spacing between these slots, so measuring the space in between these slots, going horizontally, looks like we're sitting right at about an inch and a quarter. And then the vertical spacing between these slots, we are sitting right at, looks like half an inch. And then the swivel bracket mounting hole diameter is half an inch. The 8 3/4 " galvinized U-bolt bracket was the only size that would fit in the position on the trailer. I could not find this size any where locally. E trailer solved the prolbem and saved me time looking around.
